A Rare and Aggressive Disease

Neuroblastoma is a type of cancer that develops in the nerve cells of the sympathetic nervous system. It is most commonly found in children under the age of 5. The disease can be very aggressive, and the prognosis is often poor.

When Ashleigh was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, her parents were told that she had a less than 1% chance of survival. They were devastated, but they refused to give up hope. They sought out the best possible care for their daughter, and they never gave up on her.

A Groundbreaking New Treatment

In 1991, Ashleigh began receiving a new experimental treatment for neuroblastoma. The treatment involved using high-dose chemotherapy to kill the cancer cells, followed by a bone marrow transplant to restore her immune system.

The treatment was very risky, but it was the only hope that Ashleigh had. Her parents agreed to the treatment, and they prayed for a miracle.

A Miracle Cure

The treatment was successful, and Ashleigh's cancer went into remission. She is now a healthy and thriving young woman. She is the first child to survive neuroblastoma using this new treatment.

Ashleigh's story is a testament to the power of hope, the importance of family, and the incredible advances that are being made in the fight against childhood cancer. Her journey is an inspiration to all who have been touched by this disease.
