About the Authors

Kareem Crayton is an Associate Professor of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of several books on speech and debate, including The Art of Argument: A Guide to Critical Thinking and Persuasive Writing and The Handbook of Argumentation and Public Debate.

John Gastil is a Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Washington. He is the author of several books on public opinion and political communication, including The Deliberative Citizen: Empirical Studies of Civic Competence and Public Opinion: What Everyone Needs to Know.

Celeste Condit is a Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Iowa. She is the author of several books on gender and communication, including Gendered Voices: Communication and Female Leadership and Communicating Gender: A Feminist Perspective.
